Topics of 907I.E.

I will tell you some topics about 907I.E.

Resemblance of Ducati907I.E. Design

Ducati 907I.E. has characteristic design, However, there are some
similar motorcycles. I will introduce them. Not to violate copyright,
I made illustrations watching catalog and pictures.

Case 1 Cagiva Freccia C12R

Yes, It's really like 907! It's sport-bike which has 2-stroke 125cc
engine. It's like 907, but well arranged to be sporty.
Now, Mito125 is like Ducati 916 at Cagiva. Of course it's company
strategy. But Why Freccia was like 907 as tourer, not be like
supersport(900SS)? I wonder about it.
Though PASO series were sold well in U.S.A. and Europe,
so maybe Freccia was like PASO series. I went to Switzerland as
our honeymoon, and I saw 2 PASO. About most popular Ducati in Japan,
900SS, I couldn't see there.

Case 2 MOTO MORINI 400 DART

Largest Ducati importer in Japan, Murayama motors is making catalog,
every year. I saw this model at this catalog of 1990 at first.
I didn't know about that company. It has air-cooled OHV400 twin.
It's just like 907, no, it's like Freccia C12R, more than 907.
Look, front fender, step, many parts are used in both models.
If you attach headlight of 900SS, and take off Mirrors from
Freccia C12R, It's a really like MOTO MORINI!
Comparing with Ducati400SS, It can't win in a catalog-spec.
It's a kind of mystery how it was sold in Japan.
By the way, Freccia and Dart, they have same meaning;Arrow.

Case 3 Honda CBR-400F(Aero)

They say CBR-400F(Aero) has same cowling as PASO series about cosmetic
features. Yes, character line on side cowl, small rear-lamp, there are
some similar points. But at first impression, they look different.
CBR is constructed roundly by large radius curved surfaces, but PASO is
constructed by large radius curved surfaces, but connected sharply using
small radius curves. Then, they are nothing like each other?
It's subtle. small rear-lamp, two blue line on CBR's side cowl(air outlet
on PASO), air inlet under the head light, these similar points are hard to
think they are coincidences.
Generally, they don't resemble, but resemble in many details.
I don't know which model was born earlier. It's subtle, too.
Mirrors with two spokes looks like Ferrari Testarossa.
At that time, 250,400 and 750 existed but 400model looked most like PASO
among 3 models. I heard they weren't sold so much, though I love them.
Before, I saw CBR400F(AERO) after a long time, but I was disappointed
a little because of narrow rear tire.

PASO on Record Jacket

Do you know PASO was printed on a record jacket?
Please watch "OTHER ROADS" by Boz Scaggs. Here, it's Black & Red
750PASO is behind of him. However, he looks standing against PASO.
They say Ducati's side stands are easy to be broken. I heard that
a PASO owner broke it once. By the way, there is another motorcycle
on the other side of jacket. I don't know which motorcycle it is.

Can't you understand by this strange picture? SORRY!

PASO pin-badge

I don't know which maker is producing. I will make sure about it.
This company makes many variations of motorcycle pin-badge.
Fortunately, PASO badge exist! It's not 907I.E., but I'm happy
that I can use PASO badge.

PASO meter clock!

I changed 907's meter once by accident, but clock still works,
now I'm using it as a clock at my office. "QUARZO" is written,
so it must be quartz. Yes, it works correctly. Watching inside,
gears are made by plastic, and I wonder if it works long time.
Side case is white plastic, so I painted to black.
